Environmental Science
The dictionary definition of social justice is justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society. Exploiation of people for medical/research purposes is a social justice issue because the people used for experimentation aren't treated as what they are, humans. Researchers assume that because some people are different in color, elderly, young, women, mentally disabled, low-income etc... that they don't have emotions or that they don't matter to the world. Because society looks down upon some groups people tend to believe that it's okay to take advantage of some groups because they are easy targets. Exploiation of people for medical/research purposes is an environmental issue because of how unethical the trials were and how it has embarked the science field to wonder, how far should science go and has it benefited/destroyed us today? In class we went back and forth regarding morality in science and we were able to discuss where we stand regarding the issue.
